With a fight scheduled against Glover Teixeira, Jan Blachowicz praises Brazilians as inspirations in MMA

Despite putting the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.) on the line against Glover Teixeira No. UFC 267, Jan Blachowicz avoids any atmosphere of rivalry between 'Poland x Brazil' to promote the fight. In an interview with the podcast 'Real Quick With Mike Swick', the champion listed his favorite fighters and cited Brazilian representatives as his main inspirations in mixed martial arts.

“It was a dream to fight – but now I think it's impossible – against (Maurício) Shogun, but now he's ending his career and I'm in the best moment of my career. (Other fighters are) Minotaur, Anderson Silva e Wanderlei Silva”, stated Blachowicz.

In addition to citing Brazilians as great inspirations, Jan also shows that he enjoyed following other contact sports. He even mentioned boxing and muay thai legends, Mike Tyson and Buakaw Banchamek, respectively, as fighters he enjoyed watching.

"Who else? I remember Mike Tyson, in another sport (boxing) and I also liked to watch Buakaw Banchamek (in muay thai). They were fighters that I loved watching in the past”, concluded the champion.

Current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Jan Blachowicz is experiencing the best phase of his career, right after dethroning Dominick reyes. In his first title defense, the Pole took away his unbeaten record from Israel adesanya in MMA and continued with the title after five rounds. The next step is to measure forces against Glover Teixeira, in a fight scheduled to take place on October 30th.
