the performance of Nate diaz in the fifth round against Leon edwards, UFC 263, is still giving something to talk about. After losing the first four rounds, the American almost achieved an impressive comeback when he rocked his opponent with less than a minute remaining in the fight. Edwards, however, survived the final pressure and ended up taking the unanimous decision victory.

During a recent question and answer session on Tristar Gym's official YouTube channel, the gym's head coach, Firas Zahabi, echoed Nate diaz and said he believed that if the fight had lasted a few more (or infinite) seconds, the result would have been different.

“If you put Nate diaz in a fight with no time limit, I think he beats 99% of fighters. You can't finish him, you can't knock him out. The guy doesn't stop walking forward. He puts a lot of volume into the fight. In my opinion, he is the scariest ‘street fighter’ in MMA”, analyzed Zahabi, who is not Nate’s coach. “If you have to fight this guy on the street, man, you're fighting for your life. There will be no one to separate you between rounds, no judge will give you victory. If he faced Leon edwards in a fight with no time limit, he would win – and I have enormous admiration for Leon.”

Before being defeated by Leon edwards No. UFC 263, Nate diaz had lost to Jorge masvidal due to medical interruption. The last time the American was defeated without medical intervention or a decision from the side judges was in 2013, when he lost to Josh thomson by technical knockout.
