With dreams of fighting for the belt against Francis Ngannou further away, the athlete commented on the Dana White's suggestion for a fight against former champion, Stipe Miocic. Using social media, 'Bones' was direct in addressing the issue, but subsequently deleted the posts.

“Don’t get excited, guys. I’m not going to face Stipe,” wrote Jon, on his account on ‘Twitter'.
Ruling out the possibility at first, Jones, however, admitted that there is a chance of exchanging forces against the former champion in the future. The light heavyweight legend (up to 93kg), however, revealed his condition for the confrontation.
“I'm not here to face Stipe, but I'll defend my belt against him, no problem. I'm looking for the biggest challenge and I'll wait. I'm 33 years old and I'm a better athlete now than I was before. I will continue training hard”, said the fighter.
Seeking a financial return for a super fight against the current heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, Jones highlighted his thoughts on viewing figures for his fights in the past. The athlete, however, guaranteed that his dream fight against the 'giant' will be historic for MMA.
“I'm tired of hearing the same thing. 'You're not that big a star, you don't sell much pay-per-view'. I'm ready for the confrontations that bring an audience. (…) I’m ready to give it to them”, he concluded.
Out of light heavyweight since August 2020, Jones has been out of the Octagon for over a year. His last commitment took place in February last season, when he hit Dominick reyes in the one that marked his farewell to the group. Months later, the fighter gave up the belt and made his move to the heavyweight division official.
