Dana White confirms Glover Teixeira as next challenger for light heavyweight belt

After UFC 259 last Saturday (6), the Ultimate boss assured that the Brazilian will compete for the title in the under-93kg category, against Jan Blachowicz

Shortly after the victory of Jan Blachowicz about Israel adesanya No. UFC 259 last Saturday (6), the champion has already found out who his next opponent will be. According to Ultimate's president, Dana White, Glover Teixeira will be the next challenger for the light heavyweight belt. The information was confirmed at the press conference after the show.

The Minas Gerais native was selected to be the reserve for the clash between Jan and Adesanya, in case one of the two did not make weight in the division, and was present at the UFC Apex on Saturday. As Blachowicz and Adesanya had no problems, the 41-year-old fighter did not need to be called in.

Glover is the current number one in the 93kg division rankings. and comes from five consecutive victories. His last defeat was to Corey anderson, in July 2018. After that, the Minas Gerais native won in sequence, Karl Robertson, Ion cutelaba, Nikita Krylov, Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos.

Confirmed as a challenger by the 'boss', Teixeira will compete for the world title in the category for the second time. In September 2014, at UFC 172, the Minas Gerais native faced the then champion Jon Jones and was defeated on points.
