“I want to apologize to Aljamain, I really do. I was a little disappointed, nervous. At the same time, I was furious, because he ended up doing an interview, making publications and I saw images of him with the belt. This made me misinterpret it. In the end, it was an illegal blow carried out by Petr yan. I want to apologize for some of my texts,” Cejudo said in a video published on Twitter.
Immediately after the unexpected outcome in one of the most anticipated fights last Saturday (6), Cejudo took to social media to attack Sterling. With a montage, the North American suggested that the challenger was acting, making reference to the 'Oscar'.
“He had a concussion and could no longer fight, but he was able to conduct a full interview afterwards. That's why an Olympic medal is the greatest achievement an athlete can have. Sterling, at least you know you can make it in Hollywood,” Henry posted.
Understand the case
In the fight against Yan, in the fight for the bantamweight title, Aljamain had good and bad moments. In the initial rounds, the challenger managed to put pressure on the then champion. However, Petr recovered and dominated the contest until the fourth round.
The tragic moment for the Russian, however, came in a scenario that was favorable to Yan. The fighter, however, threw a powerful knee at his rival when Aljamain was in a vulnerable position, which did not allow the attack.
After the action, Sterling was examined by UFC doctors and, after a few minutes, the referee of the match, Mark Smith, decided to interrupt. With the decision of the conductor of the confrontation, Petr was disqualified and lost the belt.
