After reveal that Khabib Nurmagomedov could rethink his decision to retire if he saw something interesting at UFC 257, Dana White received a cold water shower from her pupil. In an interview with the Russian website 'Sport24', the Russian, who was on 'Ilha da Luta' last Wednesday (20) as a cornerman for his cousin, Umar, tried to reinforce his desire to stay away, using his mother as the main factor.

“My mother is the most precious thing I have left. You will not push me to do things that will disappoint my mother (…). Don't torment me, let me enjoy what I have for today. And just so you know, I sacrificed a lot to get to this level”, said the 32-year-old 'Eagle'.
Although he seems determined, Khabib stated that he does not see a major challenge for his career at the moment. The fighter noted that, to compete, it is necessary to feel motivated, and that does not currently happen.
“There must be some motivation, some hunger. If you are not hungry. I've been playing sports for so many years, I've been doing it all my life, I've achieved almost everything in this sport, and there's no one I'd like to fight now. I know there are many fighters who would like to make money, who fight for something. What should I do? Many people don't want to understand my side. I don't see (a return) yet. If we talk about all my business projects, I have a lot to do that is already planned and fights are not in the plans”, said the fighter, in an excerpt translated by 'Combate'.
In his last performance, in October 2020, Khabib submitted Justin gaethje and unified the lightweight belt. At the time, still in the Octagon, the athlete shocked the world by announcing his retirement.
Very emotional, the fighter revealed the promise he made to his mother and was moved to remember his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who died in July last year, a victim of complications from Covid-19.
