Ultimate is close to confirming, for the third time, the long-awaited fight between Gilbert Durinho e Kamaru Usman, for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.). According to the 'ESPN', the organization referred the clash to the UFC 258, which takes place on February 13th, with no defined location.

This is the third time that the company has attempted to stage a clash between the Brazilian and the current champion of the category. Initially, Durinho would try to take the throne from Usman in UFC 251, which took place in July 2020. However, the Niteroi native ended up testing positive for Covid-19 and gave way to Jorge masvidal, which was beaten by the division leader.
Having recovered from his illness, the Brazilian was once again paired with Kamaru. This time, the show would take place at UFC 256, in December. The clash was canceled again on the grounds that the champion requested more time to prepare.
Without a new date, in recent weeks Gilbert used social media to demand the UFC management for the new contract. Now, the Brazilian is once again close to realizing his dream of fighting for a company belt.
Usman has been group champion since March 2019, when he defeated Tyron woodley. Since then, the 'Nigerian Nightmare' has held two title defenses. The first, in the battle against Colby covington, just over a year ago.
Durinho achieved the status of challenger after a sequence of undisputed victories. In his last match, the Niteroi native ran over the former champion, Woodley, beating the North American by points. Today, the Brazilian is number two in the group and remains undefeated at welterweight since his return to the division in August 2019.
