A Brazilian breath. In the co-main event of UFC Las Vegas 17, held this Saturday (19), José Aldo fought intelligently and overcame Marlon Vera in one of the most anticipated fights of the event. During three rounds, the Manauara was superior to his rival and emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision.
With the result, Aldo ends a negative streak of three defeats, something unprecedented in the successful career of the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg). The victory also eliminates the chance of the Brazilian being released by the organization.

Vera, who had great results on Sean O'Malley, missed the chance to make a considerable jump in the category ranking. Current number 11 of the group led by Petr yan, the Ecuadorian will have to wait for his next appointment to try to get closer to the athletes who could take him to a future title fight.
In the interview after the match, the Brazilian challenged the former category champion, TJ Dillashaw, who will be able to fight again from January, when his doping suspension ends.
“Dana, you can score,” said the Brazilian.
The fight
Marlon took the initiative with a high kick, which stopped in the Brazilian's guard. With his guard up, the Brazilian responded with a jab. Vera attacked again with two low kicks and the manauara was waiting for the best moment to attack. With a right cross, the Brazilian scared his rival, who started walking backwards. Aldo risked a series of punches, but Vera sought the clinch and began to pressure the former champion against the bars. Showing great technique, the Brazilian managed to spin and free himself from his opponent. With a combination of rights, jabs and two hooks on the waistline, Marlon began to save his attacks and appeared to be feeling the manauara's attacks. In the final minute, the Ecuadorian launched high kicks, but the Brazilian saved them easily. Near the end of the round, Aldo connected a new combination of punches and kicks, but there was no more time.
In the second stage, Marlon took the initiative with two kicks to the waistline, but Aldo responded with two powerful hooks to his opponent's stomach. Vera continued to bet on kicks, but the athlete continued to be the victim of powerful counterattacks from José, who attacked with punches and kicks. Halfway through the round, the Brazilian applied a left cross, which knocked Marlon off balance. The Brazilian continued to dominate the duel. After three minutes, Vera tried to take the former champion again, but Aldo remained calm and defended himself efficiently. Just like in the previous round, José managed to free himself and the duel was once again fought in the center of the Octagon. Near the end of the round, Vera connected with a cross to the Brazilian's face and once again took the Manauara into the clinch. The round came to an end with the Brazilian being pressed against the bars.
In the last round, Marlon went all out on Aldo in the opening seconds. The Brazilian, attentive, managed to reach his opponent's back and fell into an advantageous position. The Manauara tried to find space to use a rear naked choke and Vera defended herself as best she could. While the Ecuadorian tried to free himself from the Brazilian, Aldo remained fixed on his opponent's back. With the Brazilian 'backpacked', Marlon managed to get up and tried to get away from the former champion. In the final minute, Marlon recorded the manauara on the ground, but Aldo was still stuck with his rival. Aldo attempted a rear naked choke again, but his opponent continued to protect himself. The timer reached zero with the athletes exchanging blows on the ground.
