Video: Wanderlei Silva and his return to Japan: “We teach the public to vibrate more”

Wanderlei Silva returns to the stage that made him famous at the beginning of the last decade. The Brazilian, who is scheduled to face Brian Stann at UFC Japan, on March 2nd, cannot hide his happiness at returning to fight at the Saitama Super Arena, the place where he defended the now-defunct Pride belt on several occasions.

In a video released on his YouTube channel, Wand talks about Japanese fan behavior and the importance of Pride duels for the large number of sports enthusiasts in the country.

“The Japanese public is different. People say they stay quiet, but there's something that many don't know. Wanderlei taught the Japanese how to vibrate. Once I sat down to watch an event, which had 22 thousand people, and I heard a cell phone ringing. As the fights went on, we did a good job, having busy fights and as a result the fans started to get more excited. We were educating the public there. Pride was the first event of its size. It was a unique moment in the history of the sport”, said Wand, who also spoke of expectations for the duel against Brian Stann.

“I can only guarantee one thing for both my opponent and the public: you will see a Wanderlei with a lot of energy. Let's test Stann's chin. I'm feeling stronger, faster, more explosive and I think this fight has everything to be a classic. It will be a fight in which someone goes to the ground, and it will not be a takedown,” he concluded.
