Something curious happened at middleweight (83,9kg), after the UFC 254, an event held on Saturday (24), in Abu Dhabi. In the attraction, Robbert Whittaker confirmed the good moment by overcoming Jared Cannonier, won his second consecutive victory and is close to a rematch against Israel adesanya. However, despite Dana White himself showing interest in the new fight, the New Zealander cooled his plans.

In the post-show press conference, the former number one in the category admitted that he has the desire to take revenge on his rival, but he also did not appear to be in a rush to do so. So much so that he wouldn't see a problem if the Nigerian decided to hold superfights in the above categories.

“Adesanya is difficult, a complicated fight and he seems to improve with each performance. He beat me once, but I'm confident. I can introduce new tricks and fight differently. I'm not thinking about him. Adesanya can move up to light heavyweight or heavyweight if he wants. This does not bother me. I want to fight him in the future. Whether in the octagon or in the parking lot. Our paths will cross again. As a warrior, it's something I need to do, but I'm not worried about who I'm going to fight. My mentality is: I will fight and I will not fall. I’m really good at it,” Whittaker said.

The knockout defeat suffered by Adesanya made many fans doubt whether Whittaker would be able to recover in his career, but 'The Reaper' doesn't care about the disbelief of those who don't know him and reminded him that he shouldn't be ruled out.

“I don’t think people have forgotten what I did. I don't care what they think either. Those who know me know what I'm capable of. I've been fighting for a long time and against the best. I’m still here”, he concluded.

the posture of Robert whittaker was unusual, since, even in a good phase, it minimized a new clash against Israel adesanya, the man who knocked him out and, consequently, took away his middleweight belt, something that Paulo borrachinha insists on having it, despite the heavy knockout setback in the second round. Before overcoming Jared Cannonier, the New Zealander won Darren till, also in 2020.
