Israel adesanya He is a champion who likes to plan his career in advance. The number one middleweight (83,9kg) will put the category belt on the line against Paulo borrachinha, UFC 253, an event that will be held on Saturday (26), in Abu Dhabi, and, if it depends on him, he already has the next challenger defined.

At the pre-show press conference, 'The Last Stylebender' praised the qualities of Jared Cannonier and believes he will shock the world against the former category champion, Robert whittaker.

“After beating Paulo, I have already set the stage for the next fight. I want to face Cannonier. I'm not underestimating Paul. I'm just setting the stage because I feel like Cannonier is going to destroy Whittaker. He will dominate! I’ve already told Cannonier that if he does that, he’ll be the next challenger,” Adesanya said.

And do not stop there. The Nigerian confessed that he has not been watching the fighter for a long time and considers him one of the most feared.

“Cannonier is the underdog of the middleweights. I've had my eye on him for a long time because when he decided to fight in this category, he became a killer! Cannonier underwent a similar makeover to Masvidal. He has resurfaced and I see him being a formidable force to stop. I’m looking forward to this challenge,” he concluded.

the trajectory of Jared Cannonier in the UFC is curious. At 36 years old, the middleweight is undefeated in the division and impressed by winning all three of his fights by knockout. His victims were Jack hermansson, Anderson Silva and Dave Branch. Before that, 'The Killa Gorilla' had fought at heavyweight (120,2kg) and light heavyweight (93kg), having won three fights and lost four.

In other words, Canornie didn't beat anyone significant. The fight against Anderson isn't worth it because he got hurt. That wasn't a technical knockout, it was a work accident. It was clear that Anderson already had a pre-injury. If Anderson doesn't get injured, at most Canornie would win on points. If he passes the former champion, especially if he is extremely dominant or overwhelming, then it can be said that he is strong in the category.
