Everything indicates that, little by little, Mackenzie dern confirms expectations regarding his performance in MMA. The athlete, whose jiu-jitsu CV is vast, finished the experienced Randa markos, UFC Las Vegas 11, an event held on Saturday (19), in the USA, by submission in the first round and the victory was important for three reasons: it expanded her good moment in the organization, made her the record holder for submissions in the strawweight division (52,2kg), while side of Rose namajunas e Cynthia calvillo (three times), and consolidated it in the top-15 of the category.
At the post-show press conference, the Brazilian was surprised by the fact that her opponent was betting on a grappling fight against her and revealed that, once that happened, she knew it was just a matter of time to finish it.

“It was incredible, but I was shocked. Most people wouldn't fight on the ground with me and Randa didn't try to get up. I knew I was going to finish and I had a lot of options in mind. Randa is a warrior, experienced, she usually fights all three rounds and doesn't give up. She's a wrestler and her grappling isn't bad. Even though she was defending herself, I had two or three more minutes to adjust the position,” said Mackenzie.
Happy to be the fighter with the most submissions in the strawweight division, Mackenzie knows that she has a lot to improve in MMA, she is excited about her future in the sport and believes that she is already a threat to the top of the category.
“They told me that I'm the fighter with the most submissions in strawweight history and I'm only 15th in the rankings, imagine what I'll do until I get the belt. That's how dangerous I am on the ground. I'm a contender for the belt, but I know I have a lot to improve. I'm very excited to become a complete fighter. I think I'll show something new against any opponent the UFC chooses. I was sad about my defeat, because my record was very good, but I'm a different fighter. I have made my weight easily, I am focused, taking my career seriously and I hope that people see me as a problem for the top girls in the category,” she confessed.
The jiu-jitsu specialist also wants to fight again this year.
“I would like to have one more fight in 2020. When I have a full training camp and can train three times a day, I feel better than ever. I would love to fight again and I will ask the UFC for that”, he concluded.
Mackenzie dern, 27 years old, arrived at the UFC in 2018 and has already competed in five fights for the organization, with four wins and one loss, the first of his career, against Amanda ribas. In her last two appearances, the Brazilian finished Randa markos and Hannah Cifers in the first round and received two performance bonuses.
