After dominant victory, Dana White analyzes Colby Covington's future: 'Maybe he'll face Masvidal'

President of Ultimate says that the North American is back in the fight for a title fight, but the athlete may have a new test against an old friend

The dominant victory of Colby covington about Tyron woodley, this Saturday (19), at UFC Las Vegas 11, officially put the North American in contention for a future title shot. In a press conference held after the show, the organization's president, Dana White, stated that 'Caos' was approaching a new opportunity to fight for the title, but could be selected to face an old acquaintance.

“At the moment, Gilbert Burns (Durinho) is (Kamaru) Usman (champion)’s next opponent. Colby is there. The first fight (between Covington and Usman) was incredible. I love that fight. I don't know. Maybe we can get him another fight. Maybe he’ll face (Jorge) Masvidal,” said Dana.

After passing the former champion of the category without any major problems this weekend, Covington did not hide his desire to exchange forces against Kamaru, by whom he was defeated in December last year, in the fight for the linear title of the category.

Current number two in the rankings, if the athlete is confirmed as Masvidal's next opponent, UFC fans could see an interesting confrontation. Former training partners at American Top Team, Colby and Jorge were friends for years, until, last year, they broke off their relationship and started exchanging barbs through the press.
