Shortly after being hit by Stipe Miocic and having lost the chance to regain the heavyweight belt, Cormier stated that he has no interest in continuing to fight for something other than a belt. The request to be excluded from the anti-doping test list makes the decision of the now former fighter more than clear.

Officially out of combat, Daniel will remain an employee of Ultimate. When not fighting, DC acts as a commentator for the organization and will remain in that post.

“I had a great time with him, but he is a great commentator. So, he will continue to be here and remain with the company forever. It’s not like we’re losing him and we’ll never see him again,” concluded White.

To date, Cormier remains in the official UFC rankings. In heavyweight, the fighter is in third place and the veteran also occupies seventh place in the group of the best weight-for-pound in the company.
