Deiveson arrives in his hometown after performing last week at the UFC Fight Island 2, in Abu Dhabi. On that occasion, the fighter made history in Brazilian MMA by brutalizing Jospeh Benavidez and becoming the first Brazilian athlete to hold the flyweight title in the organization.
Before disembarking in Soure, Deiveson, however, was received in Belém (PA) by the state governor, Helder Barbalho (MDB). In a meeting held at the government palace, Figueiredo was presented with the Grão-Pará Commendation, the highest honor given to athletes from Pará.
Already in his city, the 'God of War' was received by the mayor, Guto Gouvêa (PR), who made an unusual promise to the new world MMA champion. The politician stated that he will build a monument in the style of 'Rocky Balboa' – the fictional boxer played by Sylvester Stallone in the movies. The information was released by reporter André Laurent.
Living the greatest moment of his career, Deiveson recently gave clues about when he intends to defend his belt for the first time. On his Instagram account, the Brazilian responded to a challenge made by Brandon Moreno and suggested a confrontation in November.
