In the fight that preceded the three title fights, in UFC 251, held this Saturday (11), in Abu Dhabi, Rose namajunas overcame Jéssica 'Bate-Estaca' in the rematch between the former strawweight champions (under 52,1kg). In three well-fought rounds, the American was better in the first rounds and emerged victorious in the judges' split decision.

The clash between the straws marked the repeat of the meeting that took place in May of last year, when the combatants exchanged forces in a dispute for the category title. On that occasion, Andrade ended up achieving a historic knockout and took the belt from the then champion.

This weekend, the athletes met again in search of a new chance to compete for the category belt in the future. Willing to win at all costs, the athletes then staged one of the most competitive clashes of the night.

With the triumph, Namajunas stands as a strong candidate to face Weili Zhang for the category belt.

The fight

The confrontation began with Jéssica taking the initiative with a low kick. Rose responded with a jab and continued trying to find the distance. The Brazilian moved a lot and dodged the North American's attacks. Halfway through the round, Namajunas connected with a good sequence of punches, but they didn't shake the Paraná native. 'Bate-Estaca' was looking for the knockout, but his blows went empty. Rose continued to score more using boxing, but the Brazilian continued to move forward. In the final seconds, the straws studied each other in the center of the octagon until the timer reached zero.

In the second round, Rose continued to focus on punch combinations, but Andrade showed danger with counterattacks. Two minutes later, Andrade connected with a hook on Namajunas' waistline, who responded with a straight shot. Rose tried a flying knee, but ended up losing her balance. 'Bate-Estaca' retaliated with a high kick, but the blow went empty. In the final minute, the woman from Paraná tried to grapple, but was pushed away by her opponent. The North American continued to fight at long range, avoiding exchanging forces in hand-to-hand combat with the Brazilian. Near the end of the round, the athletes started to engage in frank exchanges, but there was no more time.

The last round began with Jéssica landing a good right that exploded in Rose's face. Then, the Brazilian launched a high kick, but the attack stopped in Namajunas' guard. The American continued to score with jabs and straight shots and Andrade tried to respond with powerful crosses. Halfway through the round, 'Bate-Estaca' took the fight to the ground, but Rose managed to get up. Towards the end of the match, Namajunas' nose was bleeding and the woman from Paraná began to impose her pace. In the final minute, Andrade continued to press and had the advantage in the confrontation. The athletes continued attacking each other until the fight ended.

Brazilian show. In the fight that opened the main card of the UFC 251, Amanda ribas he demonstrated excellent jiu-jistu and submitted paige vanzant in the first round. The Brazilian needed less than three minutes to lock the North American into an armbar, forcing her rival to give up.

Considered one of Brazil's biggest prospects in the strawweight category (up to 52,1kg), Ribas took on the challenge of facing VanZant in the flyweight category (up to 56,7kg) in the match that may have marked Paige's farewell to the organization.

With the new positive result, Amanda remains undefeated in the company, with four victories since her debut.

Paige stepped into the Octagon this weekend to complete the last fight of her UFC contract. After the setback, it is not known whether the fighter will renew with the company.
