Stipe Miocic believes Jon Jones could beat Francis Ngannou at heavyweight

Without detracting from the Franco-Cameroonian's physical strength and talent, the champion suggests that, with the right strategy, 'Bones' could triumph in the superfight

Although the UFC board has ruled out, for now, the superfight between Jon Jones e Francis Ngannou, the subject still remains hot in the MMA universe. Responsible for beating the Franco-Cameroonian in 2018, Stipe Miocic believes that 'Bones' could surprise and defeat the 'giant' in a possible clash between heavyweights (up to 120,2kg).

“I definitely think (Jones) could win with a good strategy, but like I said, anything can happen. You're using small gloves, in the heavyweight division, blows to the face. Anything can happen, honestly”, said the current division champion, in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

Although he believes in the potential of Jon and his team, Miocic, who has already challenged the French-Cameroonian for the title, understands the dangers of going head to head against an opponent who has been trampling on his latest rivals.

“It would be a good fight. An interesting combination. I think that anyone who fights Ngannou is a difficult fight, because he is very explosive and hits a lot. He may not be as good technically as Jon Jones, but he has the strength”, he concluded.

In the past few weeks, 'Bones' and Francis reached a verbal agreement for a big show. The athletes, then, tried to leave the responsibility for promotion to Dana White and his team. The company's president, however, did not seem willing to hold the fight for now, as the athletes are willing to fight under the condition of a million dollar payment.

The organization's momentary lack of interest in the superfight, including caused Jon to threaten to step away from MMA for a while, since, according to the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), for the services he provided, he deserved more respect.
