After a sequence of publications, 'Bones' made it clear that his desire for his next commitment is a million-dollar confrontation against the heavyweight 'giant' (up to 120,2kg.), who recently supported the cause and entered the 'fight' to make the show happens. After having his plans frustrated, Jon expressed his dissatisfaction with the UFC management.
“Before even discussing prices, Ultimate wasn't interested in paying for the fight against Francis or for me to move up to heavyweight.
Before even discussing numbers, the UFC was unwilling to pay more for the Francis super fight / for me to move to heavyweight. Said I could possibly earn more in pay-per-view buys.

At one point, a fan asked the champion whether the side would be more important than his trajectory within the sport. 'Bones', then, didn't shy away and gave a prompt response to the follower.
“Honestly, no. Not at this point in my career. I could retire today. I’ve done my job and given this company over a decade of entertainment,” she wrote.

Jon's desire to face Ngannou began after the French-Cameroonian's big victory over Jairzinho Rozenstruik, UFC 249 and to see Ovince St Preux – a light heavyweight of origin – facing Ben Rothwell as an equal among the heavyweights, on the 13th. After watching the fights, 'Bones' stated that he could do well in the top division and suggested a confrontation against Francis. From then on, sports fans and the athletes involved were excited about the possibility of a historic confrontation.
