The former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg), Daniel Cormier, seems to have lost patience with the current division champion, Stipe Miocic, who refuses to accept the trilogy between them while the pandemic situation is not regulated. After the show Francis Ngannou No. UFC 249, held last Saturday (9), in Jacksonville, DC seems to have convinced himself that the French-Cameroonian could be his next opponent for the organization.

“If Stipe doesn’t fight, then Francis Ngannou will win a fight for the belt. If someone faces Francis Ngannou for the belt, it will be me”, said Daniel in an interview after this weekend’s show.
No UFC 249, Francis, who has been asking for a new chance to fight for the title for a while now, came in to prove his good form and achieved a lightning knockout over the promising and, until that moment, undefeated, Jairzinho Rozenstruik. After the confrontation, Ngannou once again expressed his dissatisfaction with Ultimate, which has not held a fight for the heavyweight belt since August last year, when Stipe beat DC and regained the title of champion.
By proposing a confrontation with Francis, Cormier makes himself available to face an athlete who has shown himself to be one of the most dangerous in the entire organization. DC, however, stated that he was aware of the dangers, but revealed that he was not afraid of his rival.
“I'll be honest with you, I have all the respect in the world for Francis Ngannou, but I'm not afraid of anyone. I will fight anyone anytime. I love Francis. I think he’s great,” he said.
Finally, DC stated that he has not officially given up on the rematch against Miocic. Since last year, the athlete has been stating that he intends for the rematch against his compatriot to represent his last appearance as a professional in MMA.
“I would love to do my trilogy against Stipe Miocic, but, if he doesn't fight, we'll take away his belt, like Henry (Cejudo) did, who gave up his (flyweight) belt. Then, they will have a fight between Francis and me for the belt”, he concluded.
