One of the biggest names in the history of Ultimate, Georges St Pierre was nominated to be part of the select group of fighters in the UFC Hall of Fame. Former champion in two categories of the organization (middleweight and welterweight), the athlete received the information from the company president, Dana White, during the card last Saturday (9), in Jacksonville (USA).

“This should be announced in a bigger way, but we are going through this pandemic. You are being integrated into the (UFC) Hall of Fame, my friend”, said Dana in a video call with the Canadian.
The president took the opportunity to praise the fighter's career, Georges, who accumulated victories and belts throughout his career in MMA.
“You deserve it, man. You have achieved a lot in your life. It's very deserved. Let’s hope we can be together soon to celebrate,” White emphasized.
After the announcement, St. Pierre used his social media to thank the UFC and his team for the appointment. The fighter also didn't forget his team, collaborators and even his opponents inside the Octagon.
“It is a great honor to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. I want to thank Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, Dana White and the entire UFC team. My family, my coaches, teammates, sponsors, collaborators, opponents and fans. It was an incredible day. Without you, it wouldn’t be possible”, wrote the Canadian on his Instagram account.
GSP's UFC history
Georges debuted as an Ultimate fighter in January 2004, with a victory over Karo Parisyan. The fighter needed just two appearances to compete for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg), which was vacant at the time. The conquest did not come on the first attempt, as the combatant ended up defeated by Matt hugs. The athlete, however, would have his rematch almost two years later and, this time, he didn't let the opportunity slip away.
For Ultimate, Georges had 23 fights, winning 21 and being defeated on only two occasions. His last commitment for the company took place in November 2017, when the athlete returned to MMA after a four-year hiatus, and defeated Michael Bisping in the fight for the middleweight title (up to 93kg.). After defeating the Englishman, the Canadian joined the group of fighters who held belts in two different divisions.
Today, St. Pierre is 38 years old and has not confirmed his official retirement from the sport. Recently, the athlete is rehearsing a return to the sport to face the current lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), Khabib Nurmagomedov, in a superfight.
