To promote the fight, which represented the main fight of UFC194, Aldo and Conor went on a kind of world tour, holding press conferences and staring wherever they went. In all events, McGregor stood out for his provocations and attempts to get inside the Brazilian's head. José, however, saw the Irishman's actions as fuel for motivation and coldly believed in a great triumph.

“For everything that was said and everything that happened, my team and I were confident that we could beat him, but that wasn’t what happened,” said the man from Manaus.

The Brazilian managed to regain his belt when he defeated Frankie Edgar in the interim title fight, but ended up promoted to lineal champion after McGregor decided to play at lightweight (up to 70,3kg).

Deserved defeat! Of course we will always support our Brazilian fighters! But José Aldo at the time was very full of confidence and so on! If you think you're the beater, but arrogance does these things! Don't see Spider! Where's it? Your arrogance and lack of humility with your opponent do this! I hope you drop the ball next time! Otherwise! It's going to be another lap!
