After two defeats to Anderson Silva, the last being by technical knockout at UFC 148, an event held last Saturday (07), the North American Chael Sonnen considers the possibility of leaving the middleweight division.

In an interview with FUEL TV's “UFC Tonight” program, the American stated that he is willing to move to the light heavyweight category.

“When you're stuck in this place that I am, even though Anderson may announce his retirement, there's also a great chance for a fresh start with a simple change of weight class. This is something very common and a lot of guys have done it. My mentors Randy Couture and Dan Henderson made. It’s something to think about,” Chael said.

Sonnen, who has an MMA record of 27 wins, 12 losses and one draw, is considered the second best middleweight today, but the North American has already had a few fights as a light heavyweight, including facing Renato Babalu from Rio, in the UFC 55, in 2006, a fight that marked his debut in Ultimate.
