Known worldwide as a great MMA athlete, Vitor belfort rekindled the hope of those who would like to see him repeat the confrontation against Wanderlei Silva, whom he beat in 1998. The 'Phenomenon', who had been challenged by 'Wand' last year to a 'bare-knuckle boxing' confrontation, stated that he is interested in the confrontation, however, within a sport that he is creating . The carioca spoke about the plans in an interview with 'Ag.Fight'.

“Wanderlei, as a guy who is a very important exponent, he should be the first to understand that 'bare-knuckle boxing' is the pornography of fighting today. There's no reason for us to do that”, said Belfort, explaining why he didn't want to face the 'Crazy Dog' in the proposed challenge.

Vitor, however, is far from 'racing' against his old rival. The 43-year-old athlete suggested a commitment to a new sport that is being created by the Brazilian, which mixes boxing and mixed martial arts.

“In reality, what I am creating, which is Martial Arts Boxing, will have a small glove, where the fingers will not go into the eyes, where there will be protection. It's not that bloody thing, there's not a lot of cutting. Because I think Wanderlei is at an age where he no longer needs it. He needs to create something that he can leave as a legacy for the next generation. Will we regress? Are you going to go backwards? Let's move forward, bring something that sponsors can be with us, big companies. There may be a union between boxing and MMA. He is more than invited to do this fight with me”, explained the 'Phenomenon'.

With great stories built in the world of fights, Vitor and Wanderlei were two of those largely responsible for spreading both the old 'vale tudo' and MMA, not only in Brazil, but throughout the world. A confrontation between the two could lift the spirits of the most nostalgic.
