The low level of the main fight of UFC 248, held last Saturday (7), in Las Vegas (USA) has generated criticism not only among MMA fans and specialized press. After the event, Yoel romero, who exchanged forces against Israel adesanya competing for the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg), expressed his dissatisfaction with the Nigerian, who won on points, for his attitude during the fight. In a press conference after the event, the Cuban remembered Anderson Silva to talk about the rival.

“It’s a lack of respect for this supposed champion that the UFC has. It is disrespectful to compare him (Adesanya) with Anderson Silva. He (Anderson), at 30 years old, would leave the entire stadium standing. What Israel did today to the mixed martial arts community, especially the UFC community, was a huge lack of respect,” said the Cuban.

Yoel also said he was frustrated because he generated a lot of expectations for the confrontation, but, when it came to putting the show into effect, disappointed the fans who watched the confrontation.

“I was waiting for a war, and it didn’t happen,” he commented.

Finally, Romero made a point of remembering the sports enthusiasts who were dissatisfied with the performance in the last fight of the night. Visibly upset, the middleweight spoke apologetically to the MMA community.

“We work hard to pay for pay-per-view to see two great warriors do their best. Much respect for the fighters who worked before us”, he concluded.

With the setback for Israel, Yoel suffered his third consecutive defeat in Ultimate. The athlete, who will soon turn 43, however, has already stated that he has no plans to retire.
