Held last Saturday (8), in Houston (USA), the UFC 247 has given something to talk about. After the controversial result in the main fight of the night, which maintained Jon Jones as light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg), then an even battle with Dominick reyes some fans, part of the specialized press and athletes expressed their opposition to the judges' decision to give victory to 'Bones'. One of the pivots of the case, the challenger decided to give his opinion at the post-show press conference.

“I feel disrespected. One of the judges scored it 49-46 (for Jon Jones). Who are you? Then we need to talk. But other than this guy, I know who won the fight. I was there. I don't need to watch the replay. I made Jones look like a normal guy. I brought him to the fight,” he stated.
In a confrontation that lasted five rounds, Dominick was able to expose Jones to dangers that the public rarely saw. The challenger was able to deliver efficient counterattacks and scared the champion on several occasions during the confrontation.
“I'm proud of myself. I went out there and fought with all my heart. My intention was to give ESPN an epic moment and I think I fulfilled my commitment today,” said Reyes.
After the final result, which decided to maintain number one in the category, Dominick revealed that he began to receive several messages and hear from people that the result had been wrong. Just like for the athlete, several other people saw a disadvantage for 'Bones' after the fight ended.
“Many people from the company told me that I won the fight. I shocked the world and, even so, I didn’t win”, he concluded.
The president of the organization, Dana White, stated that he had scored the victory for Reyes, which would make the challenger the new champion. However, the 'boss' made a point of praising Jones' resistance, who showed his ability to absorb hard blows against his opponent.

Crowd ! Of course Jon Jones won, he is champion, the challenger has to knock out the champion only then will he take the belt, he didn't do that so what is he complaining about, and he was lucky that Jon Jones didn't hit him squarely. Jon is the fired champion.
Moises, this story about 'the challenger has to knock out' doesn't exist in the rules or anywhere else. It's urban legend. I'm really scared of people like the Minotaur spreading this fallacy during the broadcast.
The champion already has the advantage of a draw. This is the only advantage he has over his challenger.

And even ! New rule in sport? Take advantage of all this knowledge and tell us a little more about this new rule.
I've been following Bones since his first fight in the UFC, and he's arguably the best fighter I've ever seen, however, in my opinion, he lost that fight, just like he lost to Thiago Marreta.
The challenger does not necessarily need to knock out or submit the champion! But when it comes to a champion as sovereign as JJ, Vitória has to be very dominant. Like Garbrandt vs Cruz! Totally indisputable! If there are at least 4 people out of 10 who believe in Jones' victory (only in Combate did the entire bench give him the victory!), then Reyes has no way of defending that he “shocked the world”.
Anyone who understands a little and actually watched the fight like I did, knows that the result was fair. They're trying to sensationalize things because Jones really didn't have a good fight. But let's get the correct interpretation: Jones clearly lost the first two rounds, the third round was very balanced, difficult to decide who took him, the following rounds (fourth and fifth) were a clear victory for Jones. So far we have two rounds each, with one round tied. Obviously it's a draw for the champion, that's why they gave him the third round too, that is, 3×2. All of this within the rules of the sport. What is impossible to explain was the score from a judge who scored 4×1 for Jones. This one certainly saw a fight that no one else saw.
