After third defeat in a row, Serginho Moraes is released by UFC, says website

Finalist of 'The Ultimate Fighter' does not recover from bad phase and leaves the company's group of athletes

Bad news for the Brazilian public. One of the most loved athletes by the fans, Serginho Moraes is no longer part of the group of UFC athletes. The fighter was unable to recover his good form and, after three consecutive defeats, he was released by the organization. The information was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

Serginho gained national fame after his participation in 'The Ultimate Fighter-Brazil', in 2012, which had as coaches Wanderlei Silva and Vítor Belfort.

The São Paulo native ended up joining the 'Fenônemo' team and managed to reach the semi-finals, when he ended up defeated by Daniel sarafian by knockout. Following the bracket, Sarafian should face Cezar Mutant in the grand final, which would be one of the attractions of UFC 147, in Belo Horizonte.

Daniel, however, suffered an injury and ended up being replaced by Moraes at the last minute. In the confrontation against Mutante, who was the favorite on the betting exchanges, Serginho ended up promoting, together with his compatriot, a true spectacle of race and willpower.

After three hard-fought rounds, the São Paulo native ended up losing a unanimous decision from the judges, but even though he was defeated, he fell in favor with the Brazilian public.

For Ultimate, Moraes would perform another 12 times, until his last appointment arrived, at UFC Sao Paulo, which took place on November 16th. The Brazilian entered the octagon with the obligation to face and defeat James Krause, but ended up succumbing to the strength of his opponent and suffering a harsh knockout with just under a minute remaining in the fight.

Serginho, in his career in the UFC, won eight victories, suffered five defeats and had one draw. His best moment for the company was when he had four consecutive victories between 2012 and 2015.

At 37 years old, Moraes has not yet commented on the current situation. Soon, the athlete will define the direction for the future of his career.
