Corey Anderson backtracks and says he would wait for a fight between Jones and Reyes for the belt

the american Corey anderson achieved a great achievement after his duel against Johnny Walker No. UFC 244, held last Saturday (2), in New York (USA). After beating one of the newest Brazilian sensations in MMA, the athlete made a point of trying to promote a confrontation against the division champion, Jon Jones. The athlete, however, was criticized for ignoring Dominick reyes, who is ahead of him in the rankings, but tried to resolve the misunderstanding in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

“I have to clarify this. The media is made up of audiences and I think the reporter said that (that the athlete wanted to get ahead of Dominick), but he didn't tell the whole story. In the interview, they asked me what I wanted in my next challenge, and I said I wanted Jon Jones. That's when they mentioned Dominick reyes, and I certainly said that he has done his job and deserved a shot at the belt,” said Corey. I wanted to face Jones, but he (Reyes) deserved that chance. I’m in the race for the belt right now”, declared the light heavyweight.

Still in the octagon, excited after defeating Walker, Anderson went on to say that Ultimate did not respect him as a fighter. The statement sounded bad to president Dana White, who, in an interview after the event, stated that his employees must prove in the combat arena that they deserve to perform in big events and for big prizes. The boss even suggested that anyone who was not satisfied could leave the company.

After the agent's speech, Corey seems to have retreated from his convictions and accepted the course of events as established by the company. The American, in a milder tone, said he would wait for the confrontation between Jones and Reyes.

"I know Jon Jones want to face Dominick reyes in December or January, it is completely acceptable. I will face the winner of both”, said the combatant.

Anderson, however, stated that he would not accept being put on hold in case a lower ranked athlete had a chance to fight for the belt before him. In this case, the athlete preferred to follow another path.

"I said it already. If you’re going to do this, release me from my contract,” she concluded.
