Even far from the spotlight that once illuminated him, the name of Conor McGregor still continues to be one of the most talked about in the world of MMA. Without fighting for almost a year, the Irishman has left rumors floating about a possible return to the Octagon. In responses to questions from fans on his Twitter account, Dana White, president of the UFC, stated that the athlete could return to action in December or early January.

“Conor wants to fight on December 14th in Dublin (Ireland), but we have an event in Las Vegas (UFC 245). So, if he doesn't fight on this card, he will act early next year,” said White.

The date speculated by the 'boss' was due to a publication made by Conor on a social network, in which the fighter only published 'December 14th. Dublin'. However, if there is a date for a possible return, the fighter would not be able to perform for Ultimate, as the company has a numbered event scheduled for the same day, in the United States.

The December show will be the UFC 245, which already has its main fight confirmed. It will be a fight between Amanda nunes e Germain de Randamie, in the duel that will represent yet another defense of the Brazilian's bantamweight belt.

Conor, who hasn't put on Ultimate gloves since his defeat to Khabib in October, throughout 2019 became news more outside the world of MMA than inside. The athlete collected some controversial headlines ranging from the attack on a citizen in a bar in Ireland, to a lawsuit for sexual harassment, which allegedly occurred in his home country.

With his voluntary retirement from mixed martial arts, Conor saw former rivals making progress. Dustin poirier, beaten by McGregor in 2014, won the interim lightweight title (up to 70,3kg) and had the chance to face Nurmagomedov in a fight to unify the belt. The eagle, the Irishman's eternal rival, did well and increased his career number of victories to 28 and remained undefeated.

Meanwhile, the Irishman only increases expectations for when his fans will see him climbing the steps of the Octagon. At 31 years old, Conor has 25 fights in his career, with 21 wins and four defeats.
