the defeat of Daniel Cormier for Stipe Miocic in the fight for the UFC heavyweight title (up to 120,2kg) at UFC 241, in August, he left a question: 'Will DC retire or will there be a trilogy?'. The person who answered this question was not the former champion, but rather the company president Dana White. According to the boss, the company is just waiting for Miocic to recover from the last confrontation to start negotiations. The statement was made to 'Barstool Sports'.

“Stipe (Miocic) is recovering from that fight. He still has some after-effects from that encounter. We are waiting for him to heal and then, yes, we will do the trilogy”, confirmed the agent.

In the first meeting between Cormier and Stipe, in July last year, DC ended up winning and taking the title from their rival. At the time, Daniel had just moved up a category and was looking to win his second belt in the organization. The athlete already held the number one position among light heavyweights (up to 93kg).

DC managed to defend his belt. However, in his second attempt, he ended up having his plans to keep the belt frustrated by a focused Miocic and with the desire to regain his throne.

A big question is whether, after the setback, Cormier would continue fighting. Throughout this year, the athlete left the possibility of hanging up his gloves up in the air. The fighter always said that he would not like to act after the age of 40. However, a succession of events ended up forcing the athlete to go up to the octagon after the declaration and fight, failing to comply with what was said.

The new defeat could make Daniel, who is extremely competitive, want to get a rematch against Stipe so he can leave the sport with a victory under his belt. If the fight takes place, it is expected to be scheduled for next year.
