Without fighting for more than seven months, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), Chris Weidman, stated that it could pose danger to Jon Jones, if they ever faced each other. The athlete spoke about the subject in a recent interview on the website 'MMA Fighting'. Even with confidence, the fighter is not having a good time in his career.

“Honestly, I think I would cause a lot of problems with my wrestling and Jiu-jitus. I'm also big and have strength in my hands, especially at light heavyweight (up to 93kg). I would hit even harder,” said Weidman.

For the former champion, Jones is capable of bringing MMA to another level. According to Chris, Jones can switch styles and combinations during the fight, causing difficulties for any athlete who comes to face him.

“I think my wrestling and jiu-jistu, on paper, are better than his. But the way he is able to mix all of this, luring you into his traps, he does it like no one else,” said Weidman.

The eternal executioner of Anderson Silva, however, revealed that he could surprise if he managed to take the fight against Jones to the ground, forcing the light heavyweight champion to fight in a situation he has been in on few occasions.

“If I'm able to get him to what I'm great at, I think he would be in serious trouble. He also has my rhythm. My pace is something that has to be taken into consideration. I don’t think a light heavyweight can handle it”, concluded the athlete.

The athlete, who gained worldwide notoriety when he ended the reign of Anderson Silva, in July 2013, becoming the champion of the category at the time, currently ranked seventh in the division and ended up losing space to athletes such as Robert whittaker, current linear champion, Israel adesanya, interim champion, Kelvin Gastelum e Jack hermansson.

At 34 years old, the athlete has 18 fights in his professional record, with 14 wins and four defeats.
