UFC middleweight (up to 83,9 kg.) Elias Theodorou made a motivational post after his defeat to Derek Brunson at UFC Ottawa, last Saturday (4). The athlete used his Intagram account to publish, last Sunday (5), a message of thanks to his team and opponent. Elias was on a three-fight winning streak.

“Either you win, or you learn. Today wasn't my night, but I'm honored to have my team by my side in victory and defeat. We will be back with much more experience. Much respect for Derek. He was the best today”, published the fighter.

His opponent from last night, the North American Derek Brunson, I lived in a different situation. In his last three fights, Brunson was defeated on two occasions. One, for Brazilians Ronaldo Jacare, in January 2018, and another for the current interim middleweight champion, Israel adesanya, in November last year.

The victory meant that Derek could breathe in the category and climb back up the rankings. Before the event, the athlete occupied 9th position in the division.

Theodorou, previously, had been trying to conquer a place among the main fighters in his category. The athlete came in 13th place, but the setback will probably make him drop a few positions or keep him where he is.

The Canadian, who fought in his country, emerged as a good promise in Ultimate. Elias was the champion of the middleweight category of TUF (The Ultimate Fighter), which brought together only athletes from Canada and Australia. The final took place in 2014, when the fighter faced his teammate and compatriot Sheldon Westcott and won by knockout in the second round.

Currently, Theodorou, 30 years old, has a record of 19 fights, 16 wins and three losses. All of his setbacks happened in fights in Ultimate.
