The heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.) Daniel Cormier was confirmed as a favorite with the bookmakers in a possible fight against the former title holder, Stipe Miocic. The numbers were collected from 'BetOnline', last Wednesday (1). The duel between the athletes is not yet official, however, there are rumors that it could be scheduled for August, at UFC 241.

After a long soap opera involving the fighters Daniel Cormier e Brock Lesnar, the company's president, Dana White, stated earlier this week that the WWE star should retire from MMA performances for good. The North American giant's decision frustrated the plans of the current champion, who publicly stated his desire to face Lesnar for the category title.
The Ultimate heavyweight belt has not been on the line since November last year, when 'DC' defeated Derrick Lewis in the second round at UFC 230. After the fight, Cormier suffered an injury and, during the time he was out, asked the UFC management to agree negotiations for a 'superfight' against Brock.
After six months of waiting, confirmation: Brock will no longer fight for the UFC. The solution, then, was immediate. Ultimate decided to grant Miocic a rematch against Daniel, who he fought in July 2018, and was defeated by knockout, losing the belt.
'DC' has already stated several times that he would not be an athlete who would fight after his 40s. The injury after the clash with Lewis, however, was essential for the current champion to extend his career for a few months, as Cormier celebrated his 40th birthday in March.
The fight against Miocic could be the last of Daniel's career. However, the fact that Jon Jones, Cormier's eternal rival, revealed his desire to take a risk in the heavyweight category. The marriage of a fight between the two, in the case of Daniel's new victory, may be inevitable, since the promotion of the duel always sells very well and the two admittedly do not like each other.
Miocic, who enters as an 'underdog' for the possible duel in August, became champion of the category in 2016, after beating the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum by knockout, in a fight held in Brazil. After winning the title, the North American played four times, winning three, until being dethroned by 'DC'. Since then, Stipe has not performed for the company.
