the american Donald Cerrone announced that he gave up trying to fight against Conor McGregor. The information was given in a recent interview with the website 'MMAJunkie.com'. The 'Cowboy' had challenged McGregor at the beginning of the year, after his victory over Alexander Hernandez.

“The hunt has come to an end. He finished. I was like, 'Yeah, I'm not going to wait. So let’s go.”, said Cerrone.
During the short time of negotiations, Conor revealed some demands for the duel between the two to happen. One of them would be about the possibility of acquiring part of Ultimate's shares, thus becoming one of the organization's partners. The proposal was rejected by the board, hindering the chances of fighting.
The Irishman even congratulated the 'Cowboy' after his brilliant performance against Hernandez, and promptly accepted the proposed fight in the Octagon.
Just over two months ago, McGregor had been defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), in October last year. The duel between the North American and the Irishman could make sense for the company, as both have great charisma, both with the UFC and with the public.
After the difficulties imposed by Conor, Cerrone did not enter the likely opponent's game and tried to find another opponent: To the fifth, who he faces next Saturday in the main fight of UFC Ottawa, in Canada.
Even with the official withdrawal of the clash against the Irishman, the 'Cowboy' does not rule out a clash between the two in the future.
“Who knows, man? I accept it if it happens. If it doesn't happen, I'll just face whoever's in line. I love my work. I love fighting”, concluded Cerrone.
If he wins this Saturday, Donald, 36 years old, will confirm his good form and score his third consecutive victory in the organization. In total, the American appeared on 46 occasions, recording 34 wins, 11 losses and one fight without result.
