On social media, Conor McGregor confirms that he should fight at UFC Rio

With demands for the Irishman to return to the octagon, “The Notorious” stated that he accepted a fight at UFC Rio in May this year

Conor McGregor celebrated on his Instagram his fourth place on the list of the highest paid athletes in the world released by Forbes on Wednesday (06). The Irishman also stated that he accepted a fight at UFC Rio on May 12, 2018.

“It reached number four on the Forbes list this year. If I had fought in the contest on May 12th in Rio de Janeiro, I would have surpassed (Cristiano) Ronaldo and (Lionel) Messi for second place”, joked “The Notorious”.

McGregor's message confirms information released by the journalist from the “MMA Fighting” website, Ariel Helwani, that the Irishman was after the third belt. The expectation was a fight between Notorious and the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos for an interim title.

The Irishman confirmed the fight against RDA, but due to legal problems due to the attack on the UFC 223 athletes' bus, the fight was discarded.
