Still getting used to retirement, Tito Ortiz indicated that he will keep his controversial style outside of MMA. After winning Chael Sonnen at Bellator 170 last Saturday (21), the American received accusations that his victory was set up, as before the finish, Sonnen had locked in a triangle with his hand that seemed fair, but was released for no apparent reason. The insinuation irritated Tito.
“For those who are saying that the fight was set up, go fuck yourself...That's ridiculous. Are you kidding me? Am I going to dedicate 14 weeks of my life, miss Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's holidays to an armed struggle? I was never part of it. If I wanted that, I would do WWE (telecatch). This is disrespectful, even for fighters who are talking about it. Worked hard. There is nothing like this about armed struggle, I would make the same money whether I win or lose,” said Ortiz, in an interview with the North American radio program Submission Radio.
The theory that Sonnen had released the hand triangle took shape after Dan Hardy, former UFC fighter and current commentator for the event for European shows, made a suggestion to that effect on his personal Twitter. Another conspiracy theory suggested that Tito hit when Chael got into position, which the former Ultimate champion also denies. The fight was the last of Ortiz's career, who ended his MMA journey with 19 wins, 12 losses and one draw.
