Jones, Overeem's training partner, revealed that he was surprised by Miocic's performance. Asked on Twitter what a fight with the heavyweight champion would be like, Jones responded: “I'm starting to realize all the talk around this guy is real. He is a legitimate champion and would be the biggest challenge of my life,” he wrote.

The North American dominated the UFC's 93 kg division between 2011 and 2015, with victories over names like Daniel Cormier, Alexander Gustafson, Lyoto Machida e Glover Teixeira. However, he had his belt taken away for getting involved in extra-octagon problems. Before UFC 200, Jones was caught taking an anti-doping test, lost the interim belt in the category and still has no scheduled date for returning to fights.
