About to return to the octagon, against Patrick Cummins at UFC 198 in May, Rogério Minotouro ruled out following the path of his twin brother Rodrigo Minotauro, who ended his professional MMA career in August 2015. According to Minotouro, retirement is not in his plans for at least the next two years.

“Although I only fought once last year, I fought well in my last outing and I think that motivated me. I've had a few injuries in the last three years and that kept me out for almost a year and a half, but I'm pretty motivated because I fought well. If I had fought poorly, I wouldn't be motivated. So, retirement plans are not on my mind for at least the next two years”, said the light heavyweight, at a press conference at UFC 198, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
