McGregor won the definitive weight belt in December last year, with a knockout over the Brazilian in just 13 seconds. “I personally prefer the rematch with Aldo. The first fight was great for us, but it wasn't that satisfying. I don't think the chapter concluded there. I think it would be a good fight to watch and a good challenge,” said Kavanagh, in an interview with “The MMA Hour” podcast.
Kavanagh also commented on McGregor's loss to Diaz at UFC 196, last Saturday (5). For him, McGregor wore himself out too much by incessantly seeking the knockout, and Diaz had merit in capitalizing. “At the break after the first round, I said, 'You don't need to end the fight with one punch. You don't need to push so hard.' I think that was the biggest lesson you could learn. He wore himself out because he tried to take Nate's head off with every blow he threw. I've been with Conor for a long time, but I've never seen him take a deep breath. Conor was inefficient and Nate was efficient,” he summarized.
