The dramatic events surrounding the main fight of UFC 196 will not affect the participation of Conor McGregor at the March 5th event. According to Ultimate's president, Dana White, the Irishman agreed to remain in the attraction and was open to facing any replacement the organization chooses.

The Irishman, current featherweight champion, would move up a category to face the lightweight belt holder, Rafael dos Anjos. However, the Brazilian was injured and will not be able to participate in the fight.

According to White, McGregor was angry when he heard the news, but at no point did he consider leaving the attraction. “When we told McGregor the news, he said, 'Come on! Oh my God! Won't he be able to fight?' But when we started mentioning the options, he said he would fight anyone”, explained the director, in an interview with the North American website “Yahoo! Sports”.

"I swear to god. He said, 'I'll fight anyone.' He just doesn't give a shit about it. People say our relationship is strained with Conor, but I've never seen anyone like him,” praised White.

The UFC president, however, did not say who the candidates were to replace Dos Anjos. He also took the opportunity to needle fighters who would have already turned down the chance. “We heard several guys shouting 'Conor, Conor, Conor', but when the chance to take the fight appears, they deny it and say they are hurt”, he criticized.
