“Is it a popularity contest? My criteria is longevity, dominance, and for me, Jones has to be number one. His reign as champion was long and we saw how he defeated big names in the light heavyweight division. He does everything! He has grappling, striking and dominated the category. I think Jones fought 15 times for the belt and it takes a lot of work to stay motivated to stay on top and win”, praised DJ.

At the same time, the former UFC flyweight champion (56,7kg) and current winner of the ONE Championship category GP, mentioned that Khabib Nurmagomedov e Israel adesanya as possible candidates if they remain successful.

“After a while, it started to get complicated, I’m not going to lie. There are athletes who are doing very well. If Khabib continued fighting and had five, eight more fights, it would also put him in the fight. Adesanya is also doing well. If he moves up to light heavyweight, beats the champion and fights Jones, he will definitely be on the right path,” he concluded.

Despite mentioning great athletes, Demetrious Johnson He was humble by not being included in the dispute, as he meets his longevity and performance criteria. The former UFC flyweight champion broke the record for title defenses (11 in total) and impressed by dominating his opponents.
