After the retirements of Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov e Anderson Silva, reignited the discussion about who is the greatest name in the history of MMA. Former UFC champion and now commentator, DC caused controversy by excluding his biggest rival in the sport, Jon Jones, from the list of the best. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the American justified his thoughts.

“One of the most talented guys you'll ever see, but again, for me, failing drug tests eliminates you from the conversation. I don't understand how difficult it is to understand. In a sport, we are competing against each other. In baseball, failing tests keep you from the Hall of Fame and you're hitting a ball that you don't feel. In fighting, you are punching people, human beings and failure eliminates you. It’s very dangerous,” Cormier said.

Biggest name in Brazilian MMA, Anderson Silva did not escape DC's analysis scot-free. In addition to delving into his comments about Jones, the American recalled the Brazilian's failure in 2015, after the fight against Nick Diaz.

“Jones was failing tests while we have USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) and people still want to put him at the top of the list of the best. It's insane. (…) Until Anderson Silva. He was the man. Flaws, I don't care if she was viagra. It's a failure. Failing in combat sports where you are punching people is not right. It eliminates you,” she closed.

Recently retired from MMA, Cormier had the opportunity to face both Jones (twice) and Anderson Silva. Against his compatriot, he was defeated in 2015 and 2017. In the second fight, however, the result was reversed to 'I didn't answer', after Jon was caught taking a drug test. Against 'Spider', DC emerged victorious, when the Brazilian agreed to replace 'Bones' himself in the fight at UFC 200, in 2016.
