It's official. Former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg.), Fabricio Werdum is the newest signing to the Professional Fighters League (PFL). After signaling an agreement with the organization last week, the 42-year-old Brazilian is announced as the company's new representative.

"Fabricio Werdum joined the PFL in the heavyweight division for 2021”, the representatives published on the organization’s social networks.

Since leaving Ultimate in July, Fabrício has shown himself open to negotiating with other major MMA companies. The gaucho never hid his good relationship with Scott Coker, president of Bellator, and made it clear that he would talk to Ultimate's great rival.

ONE FC was also a possibility for the Brazilian's future. The PFL, however, won the race and will have one of the biggest names in Brazilian MMA next year.

According to Werdum himself, the heavyweight tournament held by the Professional Fighters League was decisive in his decision. The athlete will be registered in the championship and, if he wins four matches, he will take home a prize of US$1 million (around R$5,4 million), in addition to the scholarship to perform.

Today, Fabrício has 34 commitments as a professional in MMA. There are 24 wins, nine defeats and one draw. In his last fight, the gaucho defeated Alexander Gustafson in the Swede's heavyweight debut. The clash marked the Brazilian's farewell to the UFC, as he chose not to renew his contract.
