By leading TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) Brasil 3, Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva they had unforgettable moments and, in one of them, the bad boy was attacked by the Brazilian's team. To the North American website MMA Junkie, the controversial athlete admitted that he exaggerated his attacks against 'Spider' and found it strange that the 'Mad Dog' meddled in a fight that had nothing to do with him.

“It was a mess! My rivalry was with Anderson. He had a right to be disgusted with me. I spoke about your wife, your country and your people. I spread hot sauce all over it. Somehow, Wanderlei inserted himself into the conversation. To this day, I don’t understand how Wanderlei ended up in my rivalry with Anderson”, said Sonnen.

Sonnen recalled his experience with Wanderlei, in Brazil, and reported that he even talked to him about the roles they would have in the attraction, but gave up trying to convince him, when he realized that his rival was unable to understand what he had done with Anderson, years before, and what he intended to do in the reality show.

“The story was already written before we were TUF coaches. There was no need for a script. He would wear the white hat and I would wear the black one. I'm the guy who insulted all the people and being in the country wouldn't be good for me. Wanderlei was supposed to become the big hero, but on the first day, for unknown reasons, he stood up before we started filming and said that I should apologize or else I would leave. That wasn't in the plans. Since I was the bad guy, I wouldn't apologize. I wouldn't break character to make Wanderlei feel better. My role is to entertain the public. He went out and made a fool of himself. There was no other way. The one who was supposed to be the hero turned into the villain. The other, who should have been the villain, became a hero. We went into a room and I told him that if he bullied or chased me, that would make me nice. I didn't want them to like me, but he did. Anderson understood what happened and let me sell the tickets. Wanderlei simply didn't understand. He was very stubborn and took it, legitimately, personally,” he concluded.

After many provocations, challenges and threats, Chael Sonnen e Wanderlei Silva, finally fought. The duel took place at Bellator, in 2017, and the American won by unanimous decision from the judges.
