the american Justin gaethje went to social media to criticize Conor McGregor after the Irishman challenged Khabib Nurmagomedov for a rematch after the Russian beat Dustin poirier in the main fight of UFC 242, last Saturday (7). In the publication, made on his official Twitter account, Justin called the 'Notorious' 'trash' and stated that the former champion has already lost everything. Conor hasn't fought since October last year, when he was defeated by 'Eagle'.

"You're an idiot. You've already lost everything. He’s a trash human being, a father and a husband,” Gaethje published in response to McGregor’s challenge.

Justin is one of the athletes who have criticized the fact that Conor remains inactive within the company and still believes he has the right to choose the fights he wants to do. For him, the athlete must respect the ranking and become worthy of one day challenging for the title again.

Currently, the Irishman is in third place in the lightweight division rankings (up to 70,3kg), behind Tony Ferguson, Poirier and, of course, Khabib. Gaethje even challenged McGregor to a duel, however, he was ignored by the Irishman, who also offered fights against Donald Cerrone e Tony Ferguson. None of the duels interested the former champion.

After watching Nurmagomedov's triumph last weekend and seeing his rival defend his title for the second time, the Irishman immediately took to Twitter and invited the Russian to a fight to be held in Moscow (Russia). The confrontation would mark the repeat of the 2018 fight, which broke the record for pay-per-view sales in UFC history.

Although he did not respond directly to his rival, Khabib has already reported in interviews that his next challenger should be Tony Ferguson, who comes from a streak of 12 consecutive victories in Ultimate. The company's president himself, Dana White, also confirmed, after the UFC 242, that 'El Cucuy' is the next to compete for the belt.

Although he is still a profitable fighter, Conor does not have a favorable record in his recent appearances. The fighter hasn't had his arm raised in a fight since 2017, when he beat Eddie Alvarez in a fight valid for the lightweight belt. After the episode, the athlete was defeated by Floyd Mayewather, in boxing, and by Nurmagomedov, in MMA.

Gaethje has a fight scheduled for this weekend, when he faces Donald Cerrone in the main fight of UFC Vancouver, In Canada. The winner could put themselves in a great position for a future title shot.
