American Albert Gonzales experienced a true nightmare in his Bellator debut last Saturday (7), in San José, California (USA). The athlete, who was scheduled to face compatriot Tyson Miller, suffered an injury similar to that of the Brazilian Anderson Silva, fracturing his leg when delivering a low kick that was saved by his opponent. The action generated a strong image and was followed live by the event's spectators.

The fight continued normally when, in the first round, Albert's kick exploded in Miller's defense. After the contact, Gonzales' leg was visibly disfigured, forming an 'L' shape. The American immediately went to the ground and the referee ended the fight, declaring Tyson victory.

Those who have been following MMA for a long time, when seeing the image, certainly related the episode to the moment experienced by the former middleweight champion and legend of the sport, Anderson Silva, when, in revenge against Chris Weidman, in 2013, his leg was fractured after attempting the same blow, however, with the opposite leg to Albert's.

After the incident, 'Spider' underwent surgery and managed to return to MMA after just over a year of treatment and recovery. Upon his return, in January 2015, the fighter faced Nick Diaz in the main fight of UFC 183. Initially, Silva won the fight, however, after both athletes were caught doping, the result was changed to 'no contest'.

Gonzales was in only his third fight as a mixed martial arts professional. In his debut, which took place in December last year, the fighter was defeated. In the following, the American won his first career victory.

His opponent, Tyson, was making his debut for the organization and in his career.
