Known worldwide in the world of MMA, Lyoto Machida still remains ambitious within MMA. In a recent interview with the website 'MMA Fighting', the Brazilian stated that he wants to compete for the new organization's middleweight and light heavyweight titles. Machida signed a contract with the company in June 2018.

“I want to keep busy. For this, I have no choice at times. So, I told Bellator that I would even fight at light heavyweight (up to 93kg). I would accept any fight”, said the former Ultimate champion.

In his next appointment, Lyoto will face an old acquaintance of Brazilians. On June 14th, Machida will face Chael Sonnen, famous for its long-standing rivalry with Anderson Silva, when he was still playing for the UFC. More experienced, the two will face each other in the light heavyweight division, on one of the biggest martial arts stages in history: Madison Square Garden, in New York (USA).

If he emerges victorious, the 'Samurai' already has other plans in mind. The Brazilian wants to win two of the franchise's belts: the light heavyweight belt, which currently belongs to Ryan bader, and the middleweights (up to 83,9kg.), which is under the control of Gegard Mousasi.

“That’s the intention, man. One champion against another. I've already beaten both champions, so you never know what will happen in the future. But I think it makes a lot of sense to fight against Ryan bader e Gegard Mousasi. It’s just a matter of time”, concluded the Brazilian.

Machida debuted with Bellator in December 2018, after working for the UFC for 11 years. In his old home, the Brazilian became light heavyweight champion, when he defeated the legendary Rashad evans, in 2009. The 'Dragon' defended his title on one occasion, when he faced his compatriot Mauritius Shogun, also in 2009, but was dethroned in the rematch, which took place in 2010.

The Brazilian is currently 40 years old and has 32 fights on his record, with 24 wins and eight losses.
