Amanda nunes continues to surprise the world and silence critics. The Brazilian received three nominations for the 'MMA Awards', considered the 'Oscar of MMA'. The announcements took place last Thursday (25). The award, which is in its 11th edition, takes place in July, close to UFC 239.

Amanda will compete in the categories of 'Fighter of the Year', Surprise of the Year' and 'Knockout of the Year', referring to the 'Lioness' victory against her compatriot Chris Cyborg. Nunes has been shocking the world with each duel. In her last appearance, she defeated the then unbeatable Cyborg in the women's bantamweight (up to 51,2 kg) title match and became the first fighter to win two belts in two different categories.
The light heavyweight (up to 93 kg.) Thiago Marreta received two nominations. The next opponent of Jon Jones for the title of the category he competes in the categories of 'Revelation of the Year' and 'Fight of the Year', represented by the clash between Marreta and Jimi Manuwa, in which the athlete won by knockout in which the Brazilian beat the Englishman by knockout in the second round, in the UFC 231.
The challenger for the strawweight title (up to 52,1kg), Jessica Andrade (Bate-Estaca) will compete against Amanda for the 'Fighter of the Year' award. In 2018, Jessica acted twice. In the first, she beat the North American Tecia torres by unanimous decision, in February; and the second, when he defeated the Polish Karolina Kowalkiewicz, at UFC 228, in September.
Claudius Hannibal will also represent Brazil at the event. The Brazilian is competing for the 'Comeback of the Year' award, referring to his victory over Nordine Taleb, in which Hannibal beat the Frenchman, in May 2018, after returning to his career after almost four years without acting professionally.
Former UFC champion Lyoto Machida also participates in the awards. Recently signed by Bellator, Machida was nominated for the 'Knockout of the Year' award, after his triumph against his compatriot Vitor belfort at UFC 224, in Rio de Janeiro.
Two more nominations round out the Brazilian representatives at the event. Jhenny Andrade competes for the title of 'Ring Girl of the Year' and 'Venum' competes for 'Sports Brand of the Year'.
