Former UFC man dies after being run over after argument in Pará

Fighter Rodrigo Goiano de Lima, 28, was killed when he was run over after an argument at a gas station. The case happened last Sunday night (21), in Belém (PA). Rodrigo 'Monstro' was the brother of Michel Prazeres, also a fighter, 'Trator'.

According to witnesses, 'Monstro' and the driver had a disagreement, starting a fight at around 21pm. The driver, who provides services to a transport company, at a certain point, got into the vehicle and took off towards the fighter. According to the Civil Police, the suspect in the crime is Jefferson Roger Maciel Barata. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) was called to remove the body at 23pm, and the autopsy was scheduled to take place on Monday morning (22).

“Everyone who was there said that Rodrigo had an argument with an Úber driver and that, after that, that driver got into the car and ran over my friend', reported José de Ribamar Machado Gomes, friend and student of the victim, to the website 'Oliberal.com'.

'Monster' won the 'Jungle Fight' at 23 years old. After the feat, the fighter signed a contract with the UFC to face the North American Neil Magny, at UFC Auckland, Australia, in June 2014. On that occasion, Rodrigo was defeated by knockout in the second round. The athlete received another opportunity in the organization, when he faced Mexican Efrain Escudero, at UFC Broomfield, in February 2015, in the United States, and was defeated again; this time, by unanimous decision of the judges.

Rodrigo's last fight took place in June last year, when he defeated Luiz Fabiano 'Caipira' by submission in the first round, at 'Shooto Brasil 85'.
