Magana fell into a coma after reacting badly to the anesthesia given during surgery to treat a herniated disc. During the procedure, doctors discovered that the fighter suffers from 'Cauda Equina Syndrome': a condition that can result in the loss of neurological elements, which can lead to inefficient movements in the lower limbs.

Angela Magana has an MMA record of 11 wins and 10 losses. She gained fame in the world of fights in 2017, when she got involved in a fight with the Brazilian Chris Cyborg, at the UFC athletes’ meeting. At the time, the American wrote messages on Twitter criticizing Ray Elbe, the Brazilian's boyfriend, and said that the woman from Paraná looked like “Jigsaw”, from the “Saw” film series. Cris went to get satisfaction and they came to blows.

Magana is currently 35 years old and would fight on April 26th against Kyra Batara at 'Combate Américas: Rainhas do Combate', in Los Angeles. The fight, however, was cancelled. Angela is currently facing a streak of six consecutive defeats; the last, in August of last year.
