“It’s very confusing. The UFC does not give athletes a position on how the category is doing, whether it will continue or not. I believe that in the UFC we only have me, (Alexandre) Patonja, (Jussier) Formiga, Deiveson (Figueiredo), (Joseph) Benavidez and (Henry) Cejudo”, commented the athlete, who also commented on the absence of quality competitors in the category . “You see that, after Patonja, there are only a few fighters who have nothing to do with it, so there’s no way to know. I believe we will have flyweight fights until, at the latest, June or July, and they will end the category,” said Reis.

Another fact that supports Wilson's opinion is the fact that the category champion, Henry Cejudo, will make his debut in bantamweight (up to 61,2kg), when he will face the Brazilian Marlon moraes for the category belt, which has been vacant since TJ Dillashaw gave up the title.

“If (Henry Cejudo) winning (the bantamweight title), I think it’s over for good”, assumed the athlete.

Wilson reis will have his next fight against compatriot Alexandre Patonja, in UFC 236, which takes place next Saturday. A victory places the athlete in a favorable position in the category ranking.

“A win puts me in a very good situation. I may have the chance to fight the number one contender or someone highly ranked. Or I can move up a category. It's all up in the air. My concern now is just the next fight. I trained hard to have a big victory on Saturday”, concluded Wilson.
